Simon Gerrard County Development Manager said: “The FA, Cheshire FA and McDonalds are delighted to recognise the work that Newton Athletic Football JFC undertake on a weekly basis, this award recognises the club for their continued great work in providing a safe, effective and fun environment for children to learn in. Football at grassroots would not exist without volunteers such as those who are at Newton, who in essence are the lifeblood of the game.”

Mark Howell Community Officer Chester Football Club said: “It is great to see the hard work and dedication that the volunteers put in at Newton Athletic being recognised with such a prestigious award. Their willingness to work so hard to provide such a safe and nurturing environment for the children is an absolute credit to them. They are a real asset to not only the football community, but the community of Chester as a whole.”

Mike Jones the leader of the council said: “It is important that our local members engage and support our community groups and Newton Athletic is a great example of how Member budgets can be used to support such a great organisation working with our young people. Congratulations to Newton Athletic on their achievements”
