The FA issued guidelines relating to photographing and filming young players. They are common sense but please do read them as we do not want to put anyone off capturing pictures/memories but it is important to understand any risks.

Kenya trip

On the 11th of September 2010 one of our coaches Graham Page and his wife Linda set out to Kenya to visit our sponsored child, Richard who lives in the Kisumu Region. They took over various football kits and equipment to the village. Also items for the local primary school, ie pen books etc.

On the day of the visit a match was arranged in the village between a Newton 11 and local 11. The teams played for the prestigious Newton Cup. Pictures from Graham and Linda Page's trip to Kenya are shown below. This follows our continued support via Graham and Linda with items of kit and equipment. The items were very well received by all concerned.

Alexander Lucas memorial game

A memorial game was held at County Offices on 25 January 2009 on the West Cheshire pitch at County Offices. The game was played between a Newton Athletic youth team and a select XI. Alexander Lucas, a former Newton Athletic player and Royal Marine from 45 Commando Royal Marines, was killed as a result of an explosion in the Kajaki area of Helmand Province, Afghanistan on 24 November, 2008. He had been due to leave the Marines and marry his fiancee, with whom he had a baby daughter, next year. Marine Lucas, 24, from Edinburgh, was taking part in a patrol at the time. He received medical treatment at the scene but died of his wounds while being taken by helicopter to the military hospital at Camp Bastion.
